you will see more deer in one place then you will anywhere else in oklahoma, i stayed in town and drove in every morning during my hunt, and seen more 130 class plus deer, that were bedded down right next to where everybody pitches their tents, and parks. our convoy 2 mornings in a row had to drive around a 13 point 150 class, bedded down on the asphalt road. literally drove around him!! from the stand in (boggy) 18.
first morning after shooting light, seen 3 bucks one of them a huge 10 point, massive spread and heavy horns, with his nose stuck up a doe every step, at about 60 yds. following was a juvenile 8 point, around 9:30 i heard a grunting every breath stiff legged one coming down a ridge line straight towards me turned out to be a 5 point mad as hell. ran circles for about 30 minutes then headed out straight towards where the other deer were at earlier. that evening they must of bedded down, didnt see anything but vicious mosquitos, starving to death.
next morning was the same as the prior lots of deer movement no sign of big buck though. my party of 6 all commented the same thing, mosquitos and that was it. evening rols around and the woods came alive, deer everywhere 60 yards out or better, seen 13 or so from the headlights heading back to checkout, one in our party killed a doe and that was it. we were there during the peak of their rut, they were all doe'd up, seen lots of deer and turkey everywhere, several nice deer were killed on our hunt. just not by us.
