Has anyone heard what the 2009 Dove season forecast is? I'm new to dove hunting in Oklahoma. I would imagine with the rain last night and the cooler weather to follow the birds will be flying out to other locations.

Thanks for the encouraging feedback. I drove out to the hunting property after I got off work yesterday and was surprised by the number of dove still hanging around after the cold front went through. In the past, I hunted Spenceville WMA in Northern California and if it even looked like it was going to rain the birds were gone and not just for the day. I love dove hunting and would like to enjoy the much longer dove season in Oklahoma.

Anyone doing any good? I done good this morning in between the rain. I did alright this evening but it seemed like they were sporadic. There still bunched up pretty good this morning so hopefully they stay that way for a few more days to make it easier to get the limit. Good Luck!

The morning hunt near Stroud wasn't that great, so we moved to another piece of property near Coyle for the evening hunt and did okay. I would have liked to have seen more birds, but still had some fun. I also had an opportunity to do a little scouting that morning for the upcoming archery deer season.

Does anyone know anything about the Lexington WMA? Do you think it would be crowded this weekend since the opener was on a normal weekday? I'm trying to find a place to take a new dove hunter where the cost is reasonably. I'd take him to Stroud or Coyle, but after scouting for deer I didn't want to do anymore shooting on those two properties.

I wish I could give you some help in that area of the state. I know of a lot of location's in Mayes and Wagoner county. I have been hunting on corn and soybean fields on Public Hunting land over here.
