| BioLogic's Bio•Mass is an important management tool that offers a high quality protein food source through the spring and summer months. No serious whitetail manager can accomplish goals without quality spring/summer forages. (It's the secret to the Midwest monster whitetails. . . lots of agriculture; which means lots of high protein food sources.)
Now, in an easy-to-plant formula, the same high protein levels can be achieved on your property with little agricultural skills or equipment. Don't neglect your deer herd during these critical developmental months

| ok. so now i gotz your atten. long storie short. it took me 4 yrs to get something going that i was satisfied with. 3 yrs after that i lost the lease due to the passing of the qwner. things i tried and didn't like. thro and grow. yea it was easy but not much came up. imperial whitetail clover. died out after 1 yr. although the deer ate the ---- out of it. turnips and rape lugumes. grew poorly and deer rarely touched them. these products were expensive. anyways , here's what i ended up with and i thought did the best. keep in mind when the white oaks drop your food plot will be largely ignored. check the ph of soil the first time. it makes a huge dif in how it grows. ladino clover. deer liked it best and is the most drought resistant of the clovers.( nothing grows without water ) with good rainfall it flourish year round. needs full sun. it had thinned some but was still growing after 3 yrs. rye grass. grows wellin the shaded areas and does well into winter.deer really liked it in early spring. out of room | |

| i planted fairly heavy with clover and heavy with rye grass. bought it at the local feed store. it wasn't exactly cheap but alot cheaper that comercial products.i choose these 2 because i didn't want to plow and plant a big area every year. i did have good results with winter peas and wheat. also beans. but , you must replant every year. make a tomatoe cage except with smaller wire and stake it down in the middle of the plot. make sure the deer can't get their head in it. then you can see how much it grows and how much is being eaten. this will amaze you. this worked for me and if i was to get a place to do it again i believe i would do it the same way. right here in ne ok. it was alot and i mean alot more work than i expected. the right equipment would have made it easier. those first few years really sucked. but the last three were really good. i hope this helps you avoid the mistakes i made. and if ya got the right equipment i'm sure you can do a better job than i did. keep a small plot open to experement with and find out what u like best | |

| wow thanks for the input waldo. That is greatly appreciated. I have planted small plots in the past of turnips, some kind of clover and rye. The hogs tore everything up going after the turnips. I think I may try to plant some ladino clover, rye, and some kind of peas, what about soybeans? Ive always wanted to try them but I havnt yet. I have a tractor and a plow. Its pretty rocky where I am at. So trying to find what works best will be fun, but I will take your advice when I go after it. My next step is to spray round up. | |

| I don't think you could really go wrong if you just planted a bunch of corn. Then cut it right bf the season. Deer would go crazy of it. You would get a bunch of other animals in there also but maybe you could weed out some unwanted pest that way. | |

| I dont think a deer would turn down corn either, just to dry and hot right now. If it grew you wouldnt have to cut it, the bucks like traveling in it, and probably bedding down. | |

| I dont refer to my tactics as baiting. Baiting would be like baiting a mouse trap. Just because I plant a food plot doesnt meen its all automatic. I still have to be there at the right time, and make the shot. | |

| deer will eat corn but only at certan times of the year. chances are they'll have it ate before hunting season .( i know i can't spell) what i did was try to attrack them during the season as well as . they'll eat soy beans i've heard but i never tried it. go to a soybean field and see what they eat. just the tops of the plants. so u would need to plant a bunch. food plots are not baiting. it;s no different than hunting a group of white oaks in a mostly pine forest like we did in se ok. it's the same thing. i wouldn't use a feeder if i had a good food plot going. spend your time creating major and minor paths to your food plot. major ones are two passes with the brush hog minor only one pass. believe me they will use them. u want a big buck. do this and hunt away from the field right up till dark. mr big will not come to the field till after dark or during the rut . but he will stage nearby for darkness dude you can call me if u want please no late calls walter825-1112 | |
