Ok, so Saturday morning, a little buck came right to my stand, gave me a perfect broadside shot, it took it. I couldn't wait to see it, so as soon as I thought it had expired I jumped down, drug it to my house.

It was still early and a beautiful morning so I climed back into my stand. It wasn't 20 minutes later a doe came running in all excited, she didnt stay long or give me a shot before she took off. 3 minutes later, another doe came thru in a hurry.
I don't think it really matters what kind of camo you wear as long as it is something that breaks up your outline, I have scent-lok everything and I have had deer come within 7 feet of me while I was sitting on the ground. So there is no doubt I was doing something right, but was it really the scent lok? It is hard to say because just days before that I had just some old marine camo on and the same thing happen to me. So it's either the big ole 300wsm, which is a little overkill, then there's the military rifles, but those have either reddot or no scopes. Soooo, I put a new, shiny Remington 700 .270 on layaway. I choose the laminated stock. I love the way that looks, and it's stronger than reg wood. Added a big scope too. Ah well, Tue. isn't that far away to wait to get it ...

I'm sending in a ruger M77 7mm mag back to factory with a split barrel. It's cheaper for me to replace it than buy another rifle. Gunsmith told me that bolt/action is used for 4 or 5 different calibers. So, I have a choice of barrels/calibers as a replacement. If I remember right, they are: .270, .300, .30-06, .308, and the original 7mm mag. I may be forgetting one. I would like some input on what you think is the most versatile caliber. Thx guys.
Has anyone heard what the 2009 Dove season forecast is? I'm new to dove hunting in Oklahoma. I would imagine with the rain last night and the cooler weather to follow the birds will be flying out to other locations.

The big oak in the background is where I will be building my stand in the next couple weeks.

I put out some corn, they tore it up, then moved to the Rice Bran that you can see, they demolished it in 3 days.

No trohpy, but it looks like I need to buy a deep freeze...

One of my grandfathers fished with lures, the other with live bait. I had the best of both worlds!

One grandfather hunted qual & trained bird dogs. I would follow him thru the fields of central Oklahoma for ...

I went out and put 30pounds of corn out and set up the game cam. Its not working really good but will see if I can get some pictures. I jumped up on deer when I was walking out there. It was a big body deer but couldn't see the head. There are several fawn tracts all around the feeder and I haven't had corn in it for about 7 months so I guess the deer still check it. That is cool to know. Ill post pictures if I can get some on that dumb camera. Any one getting any good pics?
